Editorial policy

How LawnMan researches, writes, reviews and updates its content, and how we keep advice separate from selling.

Last updated 5 October 2026

Our standards

  • Australian conditions first. Advice is written for Australian grasses, seasons, climate zones, regulations and water rules.
  • Sourced, not invented. We base factual claims on official and expert sources: regulators such as the APVMA, the Bureau of Meteorology, state government agriculture and environment departments, water authorities, universities, industry bodies and product labels. Sources are listed on each page with the date we accessed them.
  • The label is the law. Pesticide labels are legal documents. We never invent, round or simplify label rates, mixing ratios, re-entry periods or grass safety claims. Where we don’t have the label data, we say “See product label”.
  • No off-label advice. We never recommend using a product in a way its label doesn’t allow.
  • No made-up evidence. We don’t publish fake reviews, statistics, credentials, testimonials or guarantees.
  • Say when it depends. Grass type, climate, soil and season change the answer. Where they do, we say how.
  • Plain English. Written for a homeowner, not a turf scientist.

How a page is made

  1. Research. We gather the relevant sources and record them.
  2. Writing. Pages follow a consistent structure so you can find the quick answer, the reasons, the steps and the safety information quickly.
  3. Review. Each page shows its status. Pages are only published for search engines once they’ve been reviewed and the reviewer and review date are shown. [CONFIRM: reviewer names and qualifications]
  4. Updates. We update pages when sources, labels or rules change, and show the date of the last update.

Placeholders you may see

While LawnMan is being built, some details are still waiting on confirmation. These are clearly marked in the page rather than filled in with guesses.

Corrections

If you think something on LawnMan is wrong or out of date, please tell us through the contact page. We’ll check it against the sources and correct it if needed, and the page’s “last updated” date will change.
