Privacy policy
What information LawnMan collects, why, where it's stored, and the choices you have.

[CONFIRM: have this policy reviewed against the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles before launch, and confirm the business details below.]
This policy explains how [CONFIRM: legal entity name] (“LawnMan”, “we”) handles personal information.
What we collect, and why
Things you choose to give us
- Ask LawnMan questions. The question you send, and, only if you tick the box asking us to tell you when it’s answered, your email address. We remove email addresses and phone numbers that appear in the question itself before storing it.
- Newsletter sign-ups. Your email address and the record of your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email.
- A LawnMan account (optional). Your email address, which you use to sign in with a one-time link, and the lawn details, journal entries, photos and reminders you choose to sync.
The Lawn Journal without an account
If you use the Lawn Journal without signing in, everything stays in your browser on your device. We don’t receive it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so use the export option if you want a copy.
Photos
Before a photo is saved or uploaded, the Lawn Journal resizes it and re-encodes it, which removes embedded information such as the location the photo was taken.
Your preferences
Your grass type, climate zone and postcode are stored on your device so pages can show advice that suits your lawn. They aren’t sent to us unless you sync an account.
Analytics
We only collect usage analytics if you agree in the consent banner. If you do, we record events such as searches and page journeys against a random session identifier that is kept in your browser for that session only. We store totals, not a profile of you. You can change your choice at any time.
Where your information is stored
Account and journal data are stored with Supabase in its Sydney region. The website is hosted by Vercel. [CONFIRM: confirm providers and regions, and list any other service providers]
Keeping, correcting and deleting your information
- You can see and edit your Lawn Journal at any time.
- You can delete your account, and the data synced to it, from your account page.
- To ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or to correct it, contact us at [CONFIRM: privacy contact email].
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, contact us first. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
